TRI-COUNTY URBAN LEAGUE

Established in 1965, the mission of Tri-County Peoria Urban League, Inc. is to advance the regional economy and quality of life in Central Illinois by promoting education and improving the employability skills, self-sufficiency, and social well-being of African Americans and people in need. For over 50 years, the agency has been operating and delivering services to economically and socially deprived individuals in the Peoria area.

Empowering Communities.

Changing Lives.

The Pipeline to Prosperity, the nomenclature for our current programs, is an ambitious plan designed to support low to Moderate income residents from early childhood to unsubscribed employment, with a focus on residents who have been disproportionately impacted by Poverty, drugs, Violence, and Economic disinvestment. Many of the programs and activities proposed in the Pipeline to Prosperity are evidence-based and included in social mobility models.

Youth Services

The Tri-County Urban League is committed to opening doors for young people by helping them complete technical credentials, career training, and guidance through mentorship. Our goal is to advance the regional economy and quality of life of youth grades Pre-K through 16 in Central IL.

The purpose of our programs is to provide experiential learning opportunities through professional collaborations from the community, which may in-turn significantly improve the quality of life for each participant. Participants who may need a mentor, will be paired with sound volunteer-mentors who will coach, teach, and guide them along their personal and career exploration programming we offer, which seeks to enhance their exposure to opportunities, ultimately benefitting their quality of life.

Workforce Development

The Economic Development program mainly focuses on investment in the workforce. Womens Empowerment, Men’s Empowerment, League is the Lab are programs designed to provide education, and job training, in tandem with the comprehensive barrier reduction services. What sets the Pipeline to Prosperity apart from other assistance programs in the area, is that the Pipeline to Prosperity is designed specifically to address the Social Determinants of Health that affect individuals in the high poverty areas by offering wraparound services that begin in early childhood and are available until the individual finds employment to ensure participants not only get quality job training to make more money, but also receive barrier mitigation services, counseling, education, and support to ensure long term mental and physical wellbeing, and financial success.
